Kubrat Tomov: Driven by nostalgic memories and inspired by the technological advancements I decided to start working with Unreal Engine. After 14 years in 3Ds Max I was shocked and charmed by UE. To see everything real-time in front of you was a culture shock. This is my first project with UE and I must admit I struggled a lot with simplest things. I want to thank my colleague Emanuil Dinev, here at REDVERTEX, for his support and patience. It was very exciting to learn something completely new.
The whole interior was done in period of 4-5 months in my sparse free time, with long periods of not working on it at all.
My goal was not to recreate the exact ship but rather to show my interpretation of it. I also haven’t been keeping the optimization in mind – there are 3,7 mil polygons in total and many, large textures.
It runs perfectly well on GTX970, 8gb RAM, i7-2600.
